I can’t say enough about the team and our experience at RVA Pediatric Dentistry. I stumbled across them when my son needed some dental work done. We saw Dr. Joey, who was amazing and very patient. As it turns out, we had to have some more complicated dental work done which required anesthesia. During the procedure, Elva checked on me frequently, kept me updated and even gave me a hug when she saw I needed one. Dr. Edwards did the procedure and was extremely communicative and absolutely wonderful, giving us steps in the procedure and time to answer any questions we had. Dr Mazzeo was the anesthesiologist and was wonderful, and even sent a text to check in on our kid a little while after getting home. I also have to give Tonita a huge thank you for a previous time when I called and she was so kind and reassuring.
Dental work for kids can be scary, but after 3 appointments (including the procedure) with them, I can say that this is a dentistry you can trust with your kids. They are friendly, transparent and professional, going above and beyond what you might expect. I just want to say thank you to all the staff for all they do and for the incredible people they are.
I brought my 11 month old here for her first visit. All of the forms can be filled out online, which was very easy, and when I got there they checked me in immediately and were able to take me back (no waiting). The staff was friendly and helpful. The dentist was knowledgeable, patient, and made sure I didn’t have any lingering questions. We were in and out within 25 minutes, and nearly all of that time was spent with the dentist or assistant. I would highly recommend it.
I love it here! My kids are new patients and I really just enjoyed the staff, environment, and overall experience.

Super friendly staff. My daughter has autism and they are so helpful and made her feel comfortable and worked with what she would allow them to do!
This place was the best. The nurses and the doctor were so kind and funny. It didn’t hurt at all and they even had a TV on over your head so that you would be distracted.

Absolutely loved this place. I am a mother of 4 children. My daughter hit her mouth, was in pain and had swollen gums. I called many places and no one could get her in. RVA’s response was how far away are you? When can you get here? While I’m talking to the dentist they assisted with my other children. I have been to other dentists but this place went above and beyond. The dentist was very friendly, professional and really good with kids. I highly recommend them. My youngest is 16 months and my oldest 10 years old. I’ll be taking all my kids here.

My daughter is 19 months old and had her first dentist appointment here today. I was a little nervous about how it was going to go because she does not like to be still. The receptionist was so sweet and assured me she’d do just fine. The hygienist was very funny and nice. Dr. Joey did the exam. He was awesome! He was very soft-spoken and explained what he was doing while doing it. He showed me a super-easy way to brush my daughter’s teeth. My daughter didn’t even cry! She just whined a little because she was mad she was having to stay still. I highly recommend this office!
A really wonderful place to take kids to the dentist. They make it fun and much less scary. They explain everything to the kids before they do the procedures. My four-year-old (who has special needs) actually kept her mouth open of her own free will during the exam, which she has never done at the dentist. Everyone there is very friendly, and the waiting room has lots of toys for kids to play with. I highly recommend!
I just took my 2 yr old for her first checkup. I have to say I was nervous about how she would do but the staff made her so comfortable and kept her entertained. I could tell my daughter was happy and she said she had so much fun at the dentist. I recommend anyone with children give this place a try. They are awesome!!
My daughter is 2 and loves going to see Dr. Joey! Everyone in the office is so amazing with my baby! I would recommend this office a million times. I started bringing my daughter when she was 1, and I thought it would be difficult since she was so little, but each visit gets better and better!
Everyone and everything about our visit were beyond expectation! The paperwork was painless and simple, the hygienist was super sweet and made my 5-year-old feel like a princess, the doctor was great and explained everything. She ended up getting a cap or “sweater” on her tooth that same day as our consult. We were there for under 2 hours. I would highly highly recommend RVA Pediatric Dentistry to all!
Clean teeth and happy kids— had a great experience here with my boys. My three-year-old happily let the hygienist clean and the dentist inspect his teeth and my one-year-old had a successful first visit!
Great dentist! From the doctor, to the assistant to the front desk lady… everyone was kind. The office decor is very cute and they have toys and books. Our visit was so quick!!

Wonderful experience! I had to take my 7 yo granddaughter who lives out of country for a consultation about problems with her teeth. We were both a bit apprehensive going in to a new dentist, but I was immediately comfortable with the staff, Dr. Joey and the office. Dr. Joey had a very calm way with my granddaughter. I highly recommend!

I cannot say enough good things about this practice and Dr. Joey! My 5-year-old needed some extensive work done requiring anesthesia and the entire office was great from beginning to end. They made us both completely comfortable, the front office staff was great about managing the insurance side of things, and we had a flawless experience with the procedure and follow-up care. They even saw him without an appointment for a quick check when we suspected an infection. Hands down the best medical/dental experience I’ve ever had for myself or my child. So happy several coworkers referred us to this practice and now I see why!!

I switched to this practice at the recommendation of a friend. I’d like to pass on a high recommendation to anyone with children. A PERFECT PLACE FOR CHILDREN. Doctors and staff couldn’t be better.
My 3 children have been going to them for quite some time now. We ABSOLUTELY love Chelsea and Dr. Joey!!! My youngest son, William, will only see the two of them and I request the two of them only for him. It used to be heartbreaking to take him to the dentist but now HE’S HAPPY TO GO!!!!! The office staff is very sweet and friendly! The whole office actually cares about their patients!!!!!!
Best Pediatric Dentist I’ve been to! Dr. Joey is awesome and the staff is the nicest I’ve seen anywhere. My son is 6 and on the Autism Spectrum, and they were great with him. He felt the same way about them as I do, and was very comfortable. They were ALL amazing from start to finish, especially the Office Manager Suzanne :).
My kids love visiting here!!! Dr. Edwards is super friendly with the kids and doesn’t rush to get to the next patient. He takes his time, listens, and explains what he’s going to do. Also, his staff is extremely friendly!!! The waiting room is awesome!! I would definitely recommend him to everyone!!! Keep up the great work!!!

We absolutely love this office! After taking my kids to a few other dental offices in the area and not being pleased with the interactions they had with my kids, I took them here. From the moment you walk in until the moment you leave, everyone is super nice! They don’t keep you waiting long which is great with kids. They are very nice when talking to you and your kids. They don’t talk down to you like some dental offices can do. I feel extremely comfortable there. My kids love the setup of the office and get excited when they know they have an appointment coming up!

I’ve been taking my almost 4-year-old son here for 3 years now. This past visit we saw Dr. Musselwhite and he is amazing! We love both doctors at this practice. My son brought in his Hulk action figure and their dental assistants put a bib on Hulk as well and even brushed his teeth! They’re great with kids that are a little bit nervous and take their time to make sure that their patients and parents are comfortable. Thank you for such a positive experience!

WOW!! I have never been to a dental office that is more amazing than this one. I never leave reviews; however, I must give credit where credit is due. The amount of compassion and humility in this office was breathtaking.
I was searching for a new pediatric dentist after my oldest had a bad experience with another pediatric dentist – thankfully we came across RVA Pediatric Dentistry! When we walked in the front desk staff was very welcoming. After a short wait, we were called back and the hygienist and Dr. Joey were extremely patient, kind and thorough. I trust them for my children’s dental care, they are the best!
